A combined power boat and safety boat course is usually run in October leading to RYA certificates in both subjects. Members who want to helm the SSC safety boat must show their competence by first passing the power boat level 2 and then the safety boat course. Both courses are open to SSC members only, the cost is moderate and is also subsidised for those who commit to safety boat duties.
